How do I know if my air conditioner needs replacing?

If it’s over 10 years old, needs frequent repairs, or your electricity bills have jumped significantly – those are clear signs. Also if some rooms won’t cool properly, the unit makes grinding noises, or it’s using old R22 refrigerant (banned since 2016). We can assess your system and give you honest advice.

What size air conditioner do I need?

Depends on room size, ceiling height, insulation, and how many windows you’ve got. A 20m² bedroom typically needs 2.5kW, whilst a 50m² living area might need 5-6kW. We calculate the exact capacity needed – undersized units run constantly and oversized ones cycle too much. Both waste energy.

Can you replace just the indoor or outdoor unit?

Sometimes, but it’s rarely worth it. New units use different refrigerants and technologies – mixing old and new components usually causes problems. Plus manufacturers void warranties on mismatched systems. Full replacement gives you proper efficiency, warranty protection, and reliability.

How long does replacement take?

Standard split system replacement takes 3-4 hours. Ducted systems need 1-2 days depending on complexity. We remove your old unit, install the new one, test everything thoroughly, and clean up completely. You’ll have working air con the same day for split systems.
